Tripsy Gypsy Kirsten Woodward posing with funky artwork at the Blue Water house in Lewes, DE

Margaritaville Vibes at a Delaware Shore B&B

Looking for your lost shaker of salt? You may find it among the funky decor at this eclectic beach house B&B.

  • Location: Walking distance from the beach and the adorable tourist town of Lewes, DE, The Blue Water House bed & breakfast is snuggled into a quiet back road just a half mile to the nearest beach.
  • Amenities: Full breakfast cooked on site and served in their cutesy dining room; balconies off of your room; walking distance to the ocean; walking distance to amazing restaurants and shopping; bikes, loungers, towels (perhaps boogie boards) available to take to the beach.
  • Tripsy Gypsy’s Musings: I have rarely, if ever, been in a setting with such a fabulous degree of unusual artistic overload. There are three levels of exotic artwork everywhere (including a kids’ reading and playroom on the uppermost level). One can literally spend hours exploring every nook and cranny, and then still find new treasures the next time around. You completely feel like you are in the Florida Keys! Each room has a different theme, which are featured in detail on their website. The hosts are so very pleasant and engaging. On my night there, I took the short walk to Lewes Beach and enjoyed a glorious sunset with no one else in sight. I then moseyed on over to an incredible restaurant (one of many choices) with a wrap-around balcony of outdoor seating overlooking the town and the ocean. The food was stupendous. No lack of dining options here. Breakfast when I was there was a smorgasbord of “I’ll take your order to your specifications.” It was divine!
  • Cost: $$.
