Tripsy Gypsy Kirsten Woodward visits Dog Bark Park Inn, Cottonwood, Idaho

Take a Paws at This Dog-Themed B&B

Be the first among your dog-obsessed friends to sleep in the snoot of a beagle.

  • Location: The Dog Bark Park Inn is situated in Cottonwood — way up there where you start to get into the upper skinny part of Idaho. It’s midway between Glacier and Yellowstone national parks. The closest airport is about an hour away in Lewiston, ID (LWS). The other airports are approximately four hours away in Boise, Idaho; Missoula, MT; and Spokane, WA. Cottonwood is a small town of under 1,000 population.
  • Amenities: Breakfast consists of delicious homemade muffins, granola, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, milk, juice, and yogurt. There are also afternoon snacks of fruit and chips. There is a small kitchen space with a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. There is an on-site gift shop/workshop with carved dogs and other items made by the owners, Dennis and Frances. Lots of games/books are available for family fun.
  • Tripsy Gypsy’s Musings: Dog Bark Park Inn is a dog lover’s dream, where one can wander the property, complete with a massively oversized fire hydrant and dog paraphernalia galore. The structure of the lodging from the outside is the selling point. The inside is cute, but basic. It sleeps four. There is a queen bed in the main area, and two futons in the cozy loft area. As quirky as it is, it’s a road trip overnight stop, as Cottonwood is tiny and there’s not a whole lot to experience other than a fabulously fun night inside of a dog.
  • Cost: $$.
